Dr Huguet is a Research Scientist at IWK Health Centre and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Community of Health and Epidemiology at Dalhousie University. She has been specializing in the areas of pediatric pain and the use of everyday technology to deliver evidence-based care in the early stages of recurrent or chronic conditions.Her research has expanded on knowledge of the epidemiology, etiology and prognosis of chronic pain. Her research has also synthesized current knowledge. She has adapted and developed new self-report measures that are currently helping both clinicians and scientists to better understand pain and its impact on the daily lives of children and youth with pain conditions. Her most recent research is aimed at promoting better self-care in children, youth and their families with chronic or recurrent conditions. (e.g., headaches). Her efforts are now aimed at establishing the effectiveness of these interventions with youth across the globe.
Dr. Huguet is the author or coauthor of over 35 scientific manuscripts and 4 book chapters. Her manuscripts have appeared in prestigious journals in the field of pain, psychology and medical informatics. She is currently acting as the Co-Principal and Principal Investigator for research projects from Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR), Nova Scotia Health Research Foundation (NSHRF) and participates as co-investigator in other provincial and international projects. Overall, her research has been devoted to finding ways to help youth prevent or manage chronic or recurrent conditions, especially pain.
