On March 15, 2023, join the Child and Youth Refugee Research Coalition (CYRRC) as we bring together researchers, service provider organizations (SPOs), community partners, and people with lived experience (PWLE) to share the latest research that examines the supports that refugee children and youth need at home, school and in their communities. Participants will also consider how research can be applied by SPOs and policy makers to support refugee children, youth, and their families, and how the impact of research can be strengthened.
This Call for Proposals aims to bring a multisystemic perspective to the question of how best to support refugee children, youth, and families as they settle in Canada. We are seeking one presenter from each of the CYRRC’s four research clusters to present recent research and participate in an interdisciplinary panel discussion. The four clusters are:
- Economic integration
- Social and cultural integration
- Language, literacy, and learning
- Mental health and wellbeing
Important Points
- The maximum time limit for each presentation is 15 minutes. All four presentations will be followed by a facilitated discussion. Time limits will be strictly enforced so that the discussion between presenters and the audience has plenty of time to unfold.
- Presentations should focus on key findings rather than a full description of the problem or methodology.
- The panel discussion will bring an interdisciplinary perspective to the question of how best to support refugee children, youth and families at home, school, and in the community.
- The panel discussion will be followed later in the day by interactive sessions with SPOs, policy makers and PWLEs about how to engage PWLEs in research and policy-making.
