Tina Malti is Professor of Psychology and Director of the Laboratory for Social-Emotional Development and Intervention at the University of Toronto. She is a Fellow of the Association for Psychological Science and the American Psychological Association (Division 7, Developmental Psychology).

Malti is a renowned expert on the development of empathy, aggression, and violence in children and adolescents. With her research, Malti showed that concern for others and guilt feelings can help children regulate negative emotions and decrease their engagement in behaviors that cause harm to others. Based on these findings, she creates and implements intervention strategies to enhance social-emotional development and reduce inequalities and exposure to violence in children facing multiple forms of adversity.

Tina Malti has published over 150 scientific articles and has received numerous awards for her research. She currently serves on the editorial board of the journal Child Development.
